One Step Closer to Ting Li.....We are in Nanjing

Sorry about not being able to provide a play by play for Shanghai..Yesterday I had to travel to Loveland for my cousin's baby shower, and I spent the rest of the day shopping for Ting Li. The Outlets had super clearance at Osh Kosh and Gymboree. So I guess we will have to mesh both days together..Basically other than meeting Pattie and her daughters for lunch and going to the pool in the hotel, they were sleeping alot. Patti is a women that lives in Shanghai now and adopted her 2 daughters from China. One is adopted from Yangzhou so she is familar with the orphanage, etc. The highlight was seeing the downtown Shanghai mall. It has Dolce, etc and from what Patti says they never go into the stores becuase they couldn't afford anything. they just like to look. Brian asked if it was like NYC or LA upscale pricing, and she said much higher than that. Wouldn't have guessed that would be the case in China, but obviously I was wrong...

Now here's Brian witha quick update....

Well we made it to Nanjing this afternoon. We had a great time in Shanghai. We met up with Pattie, Grace, and Lucy for lunch. It was great spending time with them for the afternoon and they were able to get us onto the subway to downtown Shanghai, which was beautiful. Jael gets annoyed that all the people are always staring at us. I tell her that's the burden she has to carry when she has such a handsome dad.

We took the high speed train from Shanghai to Nanjing today. That was a very fun experience for both of us, and it was a great way to see the country side. Even if some of it was a blur. Our hotel is great. We are in the heart of Nanjing, near many cool outdoor markets and old temples. Jael was excited to get some street meat she remembers from when she was young. Its been fun walking around and looking at the different sights and experiencing non-tourist China.

Jael and I met a great young couple for Alabama, who are adopting a 17 month old. Its great to see how excited they are. They remind me of how Trish and I were the day before we met Jael for the first time. It will be nice to have them here in Nanjing with us. Having other adults in Nanjing, that speak english, will be nice!!!

Jael has been great. Its really nice having an interpreter whenever you need. You can really experience China in a much different way, it think. She is quite excited about tomorrow. Although she's quite nervous about seeing who she calls the "glasses teacher". Not a lot of great memories with her.

Well tomorrow's the day, we are finally able to give Tingli what she has deserved her whole life. I've been nervous and excited at the same time. Pattie from Shanghai, thinks that Tingli might even know some English. That would be awesome, but if not, it will still be pretty great. Heck that's why Jael's here, right... I'll be sure to get lots of pictures and hopefully some good video for my next post. Next time you check this out there will be one more Perna in this world. And that's always a good thing!!!

Talk to you soon,
Brian
